  •    Peter Gordon is a recent graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. With initial interests in landscape painting and photography, his focus shifted during the third year of studies from representational art to the development of a new abstract style, which he achieves through the use of various tools that he has fabricated.

”It is the limitless possibilities that attracted me to abstraction, and the myriad of methods for achieving depth, such as colour choice, value and composition, “ he says. ”The final step of the process is my favourite, finding the little unplanned subtleties that arise when the paint mixes as I pull it across the surface of the canvas. I am finding there is a greater evolution that can develop in abstraction as I learn from various sections of completed works.“ It is through the use of macro photography that he can target minute sections from a large work, and use this as a source for a new piece. Many of the objectives for Peter throughout his process, are depth, dimension, movement and the creation of passages.

Peter lives in Hantsport, Nova Scotia, where he continues to gather inspiration from the wonderful valley vistas that surround him.
